Goodbye to the year…

Hello and welcome to NYE, so here we come to the end of the year and what are we doing? Well I must admit that this is probably the 5th year that I’ve not worked it!! Not sure how much relevance my previous 25 years of working them has anymore?!?!?

It’s a very much mixed time of year, where the amateur clubbers and wannabes possess the potential to ruin the night out for most, which is why there was a proliferation of new year day, 2nd of January nights out there, they seem to be a making a comeback !

Feel this night always never quite delivered on its promises of what it was, less Great Gatsby and more Waters*hip* Down on more than a few occasions. I really feel like it’s lost its mojo, remember when it was the biggest night of the year that people would plan for, do they still do that?

On a nostalgia tip do you remember when texts and calls wouldn’t get through, so you got a steady stream of messages starting in the afternoon with one wishing you happy easter from a well-known charity (crass now I think about it.)

Anyway I’ve put some images together to sort of show what it was meant to be like and possibly what it has become, these are from the digital archive so they ain that old, the negative archive needs more digging !
